Right, Let's Try Again

RIGHT, LET’S TRY AGAIN

Three years is a bloody long time to disappear from YouTube – apart from a few sporadic uploads – so I owe you lot an explanation. Long story short, life wasn’t exactly going to plan, so I went away for what was supposed to be one year to chase some medical opportunities. Those opportunities led to other opportunities, and somehow I ended up being away for three years. There were a few hiccups along the way, but the one thing that kept me positive was knowing that I’d eventually come back and get to do more Ollie Moto stuff.

I’M BACK BABY

Well, here we are, and Ollie Moto is getting a bit of a reboot. I haven’t been stagnant in my hiatus; there’s been some secret filming (and plenty of editing!) and I’ve put a lot of time, energy and wonga into the relaunch. New merch is available, new videos are obviously inbound, and I even got a design team involved. I hope you like the new website!

AUTHENTIC MOTORBIKE NONSENSE

This video explains a lot. I went for a spin around Salisbury Plain to film some stuff and try to remember how to ride a motorbike while talking to a camera. The riding came back reasonably quickly. The camera chat, apparently, never left… but you can be the judge. The day itself was a proper mixed bag. Easy lanes, chalk, mud, rain, soaked gloves and enough questionable helmet chat to remind me exactly why I enjoy making these videos.

More importantly, it gave me a chance to explain what I want Ollie Moto to be this time around, which leads me to my new tagline: Authentic Motorbike Nonsense. This is explained fully in the video, but to summarise: there’ll be plenty of adventures, obviously, but also bike reviews, kit testing and useful stuff to help you get out and about on your own motorbike. The big difference is that I’m not interested in pretending everything is perfect. If something goes well, I’ll show you. If it goes badly, you can guarantee that bit is staying in the edit.

HOUSTON, WE HAVE…

There is, however, one fairly significant problem with my grand comeback. I don’t actually have a working motorbike. Yes, that’s right: I’m a YouTuber who makes motorbike videos without currently owning a working motorbike. That needs sorting, and is high on the list. You can help if you like: what bike should I buy?

I’ve got plenty of riding, videos and some rather exciting plans coming up, but for now, you can watch the full comeback video below.

Damn, it’s good to be back.

Ciao for now! Ollie.
