The Trail and Adventure Motorcycle Podcast (TAMP) has been making waves lately. Every time I check my socials, Clive usually boasts about their rankings, whether it’s hitting the ‘top 5 of this chart’ or ‘top 3 of that.’ And, it’s well-deserved praise. The podcast delivers a unique and refreshing blend of informative discussions and hilarious banter. Yes, it’s quite aggressive, often laced with humor and the frequent use of a c-bomb, but undeniably entertaining. When I learned they were introducing awards for listeners to vote on their favorite podcast guests, I thought I might get a mention, having blessed them with my presence more than once, but I didn’t anticipate anything beyond that.
Turns out, I won.
Yup. I only went and won it. With 400 listeners casting their votes, I emerged victorious, well, in one of the awards at least. I wasn’t about to clinch the ‘best trailside accessory,’ which rightfully went to the Motion Pro Trail Tool (although, personally, I’d have given it to Seats for fixing more than one puncture for me). Nevertheless, I was pretty thrilled to be voted Favourite Podcast Guest 2023. Honestly, it genuinely made my day. I don’t often consider myself that interesting, but it seems some of you do. So, a big thanks!
The actual awards ceremony took place as part of a presentation at the Lightweight Adventurers Festival. Unfortunately, I couldn’t attend this one, and like those Hollywood stars who can’t make the Oscars I had to accept virtually. I felt bad not attending (trust me, I wanted to!), so I made the effort to craft a little acceptance video which was shown to the crowd. It got a few giggles, or three, at least.
Much like my articles for Motor Cycle News (MCN), where I’m gradually running out of things to write about, if I keep finding myself on the TAMP then I’ll face a similar challenge. Winning the title of Favorite Podcast Guest for 2023 was incredibly humbling, but if I aim to defend my title in 2024, I better embark on many more adventures. Best get to it then!
